and a competitive advantage. Our objective is to own each company indefinitely unless the stock underperforms or our investment thesis changes.  Due to the quality of our investments, our equity portfolio

has very low turnover and a stock is only replaced when our research identifies a more compelling opportunity that is likely to outperform.

 

Investing involves risk and like all strategies we experience periodic 

drawdowns as stock prices fluctuate along with the economic cycle.  

As long-term investors, we approach most drawdowns as potential opportunities to buy shares of high-quality companies at a discount.  
We manage risk and exercise proper diversification by rebalancing
our portfolio at the turn of the calendar year to ensure each holding 

represents about 10% of the total portfolio value.  Changes to the portfolio are typically made on a quarterly or annual basis and

we encourage adding to existing positions at a regular cadence

by dollar-cost averaging with the firm belief that building wealth
is determined by 'time in the market', not 'timing the market'.
